Women wear engagement rings given by their lovers as a sign of his love and commitment and for her to promise her love to marry the man. It is believed that when a woman wears her enhagement ring on her ring finger the "Vena amoris" or the vein of love runs from her heart to the 4th finger. In some other tradition , engagement rings are viven as a bethrotal gift to their future bride. The choice of engagement ring reflects how the man loves the woman. In some high profile engagements,where it involves very costly engagement rings, a woman who volutarily breaks the engagement should return the ring to the man. However if a man breaks off the engagement first, the woman is not obligated to return the ring.
