Some operators of Massachusetts bed and breakfast stay in the same house as their guests while some makes their B & B extra source of income apart from their own home. The maintenance of the facility is supervised by the owner of the house and sometimes he hires a cook or caterer to prepare the breakfast for her guests. It is called B & B because most of the time the guests stay their only during the nights to sleep and before they left they can have the morning a breakfast as part of the accomodation package. The places where you can find B&B are places where the place is off the city access and in some places where the hotels and motels are not accessible.
